I founded and coordinate “Big Daddy’s Complete Rejuvenating Community Garden,” in my community of Emeryville, California. The name celebrates the history of our garden, which was formerly the site of an auto-detailing shop run by our neighbor, "Big Daddy" Green. The garden provides raised bed plots to gardeners in Oakland and Emeryville, and is a site for many ongoing events and activities.
With funding provided by Emeryville’s Rotten City Cultural District and the California Arts Council, Big Daddy’s Complete Rejuvenating Community Garden is pleased to host a series of Sunday afternoon events and art installations, from August 18 – October 13, 2024, in the beautiful community garden setting.
Admission is free and the site is wheelchair accessible. Event Dates are:
2:00 PM, Sunday, August 18. Opening Reception, viewing of art installations.
3:00 PM Poetry reading by Rafael Jesús González, Berkeley Poet Laureate, introduced by Andree Singer Thompson, Artist, Teacher, and Co-founder of WEAD, Women Environmental Artists Directory.
